Basic site requirements to host a GOTR team:

  • Must provide a current completed Host Site application (includes returning sites)
  • Have a dedicated Site Liaison (this can also be a coach) – see Site Liaison Job Description
  • Must hold lessons 2x per week for 10 weeks (may be non consecutive due to holidays, early release, closed, etc)
  • Provide at least 2 coaches (must have 1 Head Coach and at least 1-2 Assistant Coaches; coaches may be assigned by GOTR when possible)
  • Must provide indoor space for inclement weather/written lessons
  • Must provide suitable space for running lessons

Basic coaches’ information:

  • All coaches/volunteers must submit a completed volunteer application via Raceplanner – coach/volunteer application links close 1/5/2017 12:00 AM

  • All new coaches must attend a mandatory 1 day training –Saturday 1/7/2017, 7:30am – 11:30am (or up to 4:30pm for additional CPR/First Aid training) at the Jewish Community Center, 3800 E. River Road
  • Returning coaches are strongly encouraged to attend a full day training if you have not attended in 2 seasons.
  • All coaches must be GOTR background checked within 2 years – GOTR provides this free service via the coaches Raceplanner application link

Other program information:

  • Team registrations for January participation can begin now or as agreed with program coordinator.
  • Lessons begin approximately beginning to mid January 2017 (varies by district or site)
  • End of season 5k for all teams – Saturday April 8, 2017 at Christopher Columbus Park – 4600 N Silverbell Rd, Tucson, AZ 85745

Additional program information: Must have a minimum of 8 girls to start a team, maximum of 15 girls per team.

  • Participants and their guardians should know in advance that they cannot substitute another activity or program (such as school play, tutoring, other sports program) for 1 day of Girls on the Run lessons. Academics are priority and we encourage your students to focus on their grades prior to GOTR. We understand that absences will happen however if your student knows in advance that they can only attend 1x per week she should not register for the program. Attendance policies are enforced.
  • Participant recruitment flyers, GOTR brochures and other informational materials can be provided to Site Liaison.

Cost is $75 per girl, per season; Scholarships provided upon request via Raceplanner Application. Participant registration links and materials will be provided to confirmed participating sites.
