Who’s your Girl on the Run’s Coach?

  • Donna works for Pima County Department of Transportation as the Safe Routes to School Coordinator.
  • Jamie works for the YMCA of Southern Arizona and was coach for GOTR in fall 2010.
  • Elizabeth is  freshman at the U of A studying Nutritional Sciences and working towards a career in the medical field.  She’s had experience with Girls on the Run through family members who have participated and this is her first season working with Girls on the Run in Tucson.  She said, “I’m so excited and enthusiastic to be apart of this great organization! Girls on the Run is so much fun!”
  • Elisa is the P.E. Specialist at Drachman Elementary.


Coached by- Nancy Curran, Shelley DeVere & Amy Mattox

  • Nancy has been a runner for 25 years having ran three marathons and many, many road races.  Running has been a priority in her life providing her with good health, fitness and a stress outlet.  “I am mother to two young men so spending time with girls is a wonderful experience for me.   I am happy to contribute in any way to the positive self image of girls!” said Nancy.
  • Shelley is also a runner and works at Rincon Research Corps.
  • Amy is a Tucson Tri Girl and proud mother of 3.

  • Chloe works for the Pima County Department of Transportation for the Safe Routes to School Program.
  • Nikki is a mother and works as a social worker.

  • Lara is a local business owner and a Tucson Tri Girl.
  • Erica is a Firefighter for the Drexel Heights Neighborhood.
  • Holly is an engineer and another Tucson Tri Girl.
  • Danae is a student of dietetics at the U of A and a member of the Nutritional Sciences Club.

  • Bitsy has lived in Tucson since starting her family 21 years ago.  She has honed her running skills chasing after her three children as they were growing up. When not working at her veterinary office, she explores the desert by hiking, biking and birdwatchig.
  • Lydia is the director of Project SOAR at the U o A and also a runner.



Coached by- Mary Atkinson, Sara Kerstein, Anne Stancil & Ann Hall

  • Mary Atkinson is a Registered Dietitian and the Director of Food & Nutrition Services at Tucson Medical Center.  For her, running is a perfect way to incorporate something fun that she loves with something that is healthy.  Running with a bunch of (sometimes very silly) girls is even more fun.
  • Sara Kerstein has been teaching for 11 years and is currently a 3rd grade teacher at Whitmore.  Sara also works at a Girl Scout camp every summer.  Sara loves to work with girls and loves the fact that they want to choose a healthy life style and really get to know who they are.
  • Ann Hall is a 4th grade teacher at Whitmore and has two grown children.  While she admits to not being a ‘runner’ her enthusiasm for working with children makes up for it.  Growing up with only brothers, she loves this chance to work with girls.
  • Anne Stancil is very happy to be in Tucson having moved from Madison, WI this past summer.  Anne worked with Girls on the Run in Wisconsin for four years.  Now, she works for Fleet Feet Sports, which allows her to express her passion for fitness, specifically running and triathlons.

  • Keli is the coordinator of the GOTR of Tucson program and recently completed her first half marathon in January!
  • Jolene is a manager in the Child Life Services department at Tucson Medical Center and is currently obtaining her masters in social work.
  • Jessica has her master in Social Work and is a Case Manager on the Pediatric Unit at Tucson Medical Center
